♉♂️The Tired Warrior Turns Taurus: Mars changes Signs♂️♉

After a longgggggggggggggggggggg run of Mars in Aries, its finally ready to move into Taurus!

Its time to get comfy and take some time to appreciate what this means.

When was Mars in Aries?

Mars entered Aries on June 27th - that's a long while back! It spent nearly 6 months of 2020 being in Aries playing in that energy. Mars is at home in Aries, so this wasn't all that bad in of itself, but the tricky bit was that as it advanced towards the last 10 degrees of Aries it on and off squared Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto each in turn in Capricorn (as Jupiter and Saturn transited Capricorn last year). This created power struggles, internal conflict, depletion energy, and a need to plan and reassess before pushing forward.

Wasn't there a retrograde?

Yes! Mars went retrograde on September 9th...right at 28 degrees Aries. It almosttttt made it into Taurus but then retrograded back. It was retrograde until November 13th and then took nearly through to now to clear its post shadow (as it made it so far into Aries before it retrograded).

The retrograde would have been felt most in whatever house it transited in your natal chart and what planets it activated. For example, with myself I spotted it would transit my natal Jupiter and my 6th house (Virgo house of work and service). I made some investments to learn and upgrade my career skill sets during that time. This is the magic of astrology! It can be used to inform powerful life decisions. We can work WITH the energy, not against it.

What can we expect from Mars now?

Mars being in Aries was its natural home sign, but it was greatly wounded by initially Chiron transiting there (in very early degrees) and then squares to Saturn, Pluto, and Jupiter all throughout early August-early December.

The good news is Jupiter and Saturn are now in Aquarius, so we are 2/3 of the way out of this epic Saturnian story. The bad news is that Mars is now FINALLY ready to change signs and its going to pop into a square with Saturn and Jupiter in now Aquarius.

Mars can't seem to get a break lately!

What does this new astrological square mean?

Unlike Aries and Capricorn (actually ruled by Mars and Saturn, the two "malefics" in astrology), Aquarius and Taurus have different rulerships. Taurus is Venus ruled and Aquarius is Saturn and Uranus ruled. The square of Mars in this new mashup of signs means that we will be at odds between what society dictates for us to do i.e. "what everyone else is doing" and what we as our internal investment-o-meter judge what is right. We may be balancing financial considerations with Mars in Taurus too. Saturn and Jupiter in Aquarius are going to teach how to reenact as a collective in this new remote focused world and embrace social distancing in unique, weird, and innovative ways. Mars in Taurus will be used to taking action on tradition and the usual creature comforts (this is why Taurus and Aquarius square one another), butttt there's a kicker in this story....

As Mars moves into Taurus and begins its journey there, it will start to conjunct Uranus, the ruler of Aquarius! What a plot twist truly for Mars. This will be added pressure on Mars to upgrade itself and seek out new solutions.

This will take a little bit of time, however, so do take note of that. When Mars moves into Taurus on the 8th, Uranus will be transiting at 6 degrees of Taurus. January 20th and 21st will be the day Mars conjunct Uranus (ironically this is when the new U.S. President is sworn in!) We will feel the impact in days leading up to that window and thereafter as well (January 14-28), but it will be most potent on those days exactly.

How can we work this new Mars medicine, then?

Be willing to change things up a little bit! Look at your investments, your subscriptions - particularly things you do for action (exercise) and things you do for inaction (entertainment). What could be innovated or upgraded? Is there something new that's sparked your fancy but you aren't doing it because "you have enough already"? This is a great time to change it up. Cancel some of the same old and embrace something new. I know I have done this for myself recently with something too, and its feeling oh so good!

How long will Mars be in Taurus for?

Mars will transit Taurus from early January until early March. It will enter Gemini on March 3rd, so it will take the Taurian ride for about two full months. No retrogrades this time, so it gets to proceed as normal through the Taurus sign. It will be there during a Mercury retrograde in Aquarius (a sign it normally squares), but it looks as though they will be too out of orb of each other to officially square...phew! It will, however, have some on and off squares with Jupiter transiting in Aquarius. We dealt with this energy in late 2020 but in opposite players. We just need to pay attention to doing things in excess or "overdoing it" anytime we have a Mars square Jupiter. Aquarius and Taurus host a very different energy profile than Aries and Capricorn, however, so its about self worth and innovation, instead of strength and security this go around.
